Local Trips
At Heritage School we think of our city as an additional classroom. The museums, galleries, performance spaces, architecture and outdoor spaces of Cambridge are all rich resources for our curriculum teaching and Enrichment Programme. The Fitzwilliam, Zoology, Sedgewick, Archaeology & Anthropology and Technology Museums; the Botanic Garden, Coe Fen and Wandlebury Country Park are all favourite destinations.
Further afield, places of interest include the British Museum, Ely Cathedral, Duxford, Flatford Mill and Walthorpe Manor.
The cost of trips included in the Enrichment Programme is covered by school fees.

Camps
Our constant outings in and around Cambridge are examples of how a Heritage education extends beyond the school walls. From Year 5 onwards these everyday excursions are joined by something bigger. Every pupil from Year 5 up goes on a school camp each year – always under canvas – thanks to the enthusiasm of our staff and parents.
Years 5 and 6 go on a two-night camp in the Norfolk Broads, and Years 7 and 8 go the Peak District for three nights. As well as developing their camping skills, pupils participate in a range of activities including sailing, hiking, caving, rock climbing, high ropes, cycling, paddleboarding, weaseling and more.
Our Years 9 – 11 Camp lasts for a week and takes us to a different part of the country each year. The New Forest, the Gower Peninsula and North Yorkshire have been recent destinations. The focus of the camp is the Bronze or Silver Duke of Edinburgh expedition, but we always have additional activities such as surfing or coasteering. Games and campfires are also always a feature.
Our alumni consistently describe our camps as being among their happiest memories from their school days – enjoying adventures with friends in beautiful locations. Relationships are strengthened, challenges are overcome and leadership skills are developed, all building a confidence which translates into other areas of life and enriches the life of the whole Heritage community.

We offer trips to Europe for Senior School pupils where there is clear educational value. These trips take place largely in the school holidays. There are three trips which we regularly run on a three-year rotation.
The per-pupil cost of trips tends to be between £350 and £950.
WWI Battlefields
A three-day World War I Battlefields trip to Belgium and France is run jointly between the French and History departments every third year for pupils in Years 9-11. Visits to battlefields, cemeteries, and museums in and around Ypres, Arras and the Somme support the History curriculum and help pupils appreciate the terrible cost of WWI. A French-speaking animateur gives pupils opportunities to practice their language skills.
Language Immersion to Spain
A week-long trip to a language immersion centre in Spain for Years 8 – 10 where all activities, including meals, are undertaken in Spanish. Activities include archery, climbing, wind surfing, cultural visits to local markets, and historical visits to Roman sites. Pupils’ confidence in speaking and understanding spoken Spanish comes on in leaps and bounds.
Classics & Geography in the Bay of Naples
Pupils explore Herculaneum and Pompeii, trek to the crater of Mount Vesuvius and visit many sites as they deepen their understanding of ancient history, culture and physical geography.
