Our school day is structured to create a rhythm that sustains pupils’ engagement and learning at every age and stage.
At Heritage, we have intentionally chosen a gentler start for our youngest pupils with two full days and three half days (with a 1pm finish) for Reception pupils, and one half day for Year 1 pupils. We believe this brings a balance to a child’s week, with focussed, high quality learning taking place at school, and then plenty of time to rest and play at home in the afternoons.
Recognising the needs of working parents, we also provide Stay & Play until 3:30pm every day, as well as our After School Club hosted by Premier Education, where additional childcare supervision is needed.
In Reception and Year 1 lessons are short, sometimes as little as 15 minutes, and full of variety. This helps keep interest and concentration levels high. Parents are frequently amazed when they hear how much their children have covered in a day.

In the Senior School, pupils’ days are divided into eight 45-minute periods with a mid-morning and lunch break. We seek to ensure that there is a good balance of subjects across all days in the week, to provide the refreshment of variety.
For pupils from Year 3 – 8 Wednesday or Friday afternoons are special. This is the dedicated time in the weekly timetable for our Enrichment Programme in which pupils enjoy a huge range of activities and outings. All Senior pupils have a singing lesson each week, and the Senior assembly takes place on Friday mornings.
