Sixth Form Destinations
After Year 11, the vast majority of Heritage pupils continue their studies at one of Cambridge’s schools or Sixth Form colleges.
Over the years, most of our pupils have gone on to study A-levels at Hills Road Sixth Form College. Comberton Sixth Form and Chesterton Sixth Form have also been popular destinations, and others have gone to Long Road Sixth Form or The Oakes College. A small number have chosen to study the International Baccalaureate at Parkside Sixth Form or Impington Village College. Some Heritage leavers have pursued vocational courses.
In the independent sector, a small number of pupils usually go on to The Perse School each year. Other independent school destinations include The Stephen Perse Foundation, The Leys, St Mary’s, or boarding schools further afield.

At Heritage we actively support pupils and their parents as they make decisions about their Sixth Form years and beyond.
Throughout their Heritage experience, we expose pupils to different career possibilities. This includes special assemblies for Seniors about potential career pathways and off-timetable days with presentations from a range of professionals, learning about their roles, the skills involved and the courses they studied to get there. Pupils also undertake psychometric testing. Combined with feedback from teachers and counsel from parents, our pupils enter Year 11 having regularly reflected on career directions which interest them.
To help pupils through the Sixth Form transitions process, an information evening is held each year early in Year 11 looking at post-16 opportunities in and around Cambridge, including vocational options. The Sixth Form application process is explained in detail, including Sixth Form Open Day dates, and we support the drafting of personal statements. We also conduct mock interviews and give feedback to pupils. We focus closely upon revision skills and good exam technique to help our pupils achieve the best possible grades and, therefore, open up a range of options for their post-16 education.
We are delighted that, since 2016, our pupils have all achieved the grades they needed to progress to their preferred schools or colleges.
