Year 7 Explore the History of the Tower of London

Year 7 pupils recently visited the Tower of London to explore one of the most significant historic sites in England and develop their understanding of the country’s past.

History teaching at Heritage encourages pupils to look beyond dates and events to examine the people, places, conflicts and ideas that have shaped the world. Visits to historic sites provide an opportunity to build on classroom learning, helping pupils understand the context of historical events and make connections across different periods.

During their visit, pupils explored the Tower’s rich and often turbulent history, considering themes including monarchy, imprisonment, execution, power, religion and rebellion. They also encountered the Tower’s famous ravens, which remain a distinctive feature of the site.

The visit provided Year 7 with a valuable opportunity to engage directly with the places and stories they study, bringing their learning about English history into a real-world setting.
