The first years are critical for nourishing a child’s natural love of learning
The first years of school are critical for nurturing a child’s natural love of learning and building their confidence by laying strong foundations in core skills. We want to see children progress from our Infant School with confidence in their ability to succeed as learners and with the flame of curiosity burning brightly.
One of the reasons a group of us started Heritage in 2007 is because we were concerned that a narrowed curriculum and a slow pace were leaving too many children underfed, underskilled and uninspired.
At Heritage, our goal is to feed a child’s innate curiosity through a rich, stimulating and varied curriculum. The daily rhythm of activities is carefully crafted, designed explicitly to sustain engagement and enjoyment.
In attractive central-Cambridge buildings and bright, well-equipped classrooms, our Infant pupils delve into many distinct subjects each day.
In a typical week our Infants will cover phonics, reading, library, writing, spelling, grammar, maths, times tables, literature, poetry, science, nature walk, geography, history, Bible, PSHE, French, art, handicraft, art appreciation, picture study, music, and PE. There is plenty of time for play too, and from Upper Prep, they have a special activity or outing every Friday afternoon as part of our Enrichment Programme.
Through all of this, our pupils ‘get in touch’ with many wholesome aspects of the human experience and develop ever more and fuller connections.
As a result, they grow vigorously, and move into our Junior School with secure foundations in core skills and a healthy intellectual vitality.
As you get a glimpse of a typical day in our Infant School, you will see happy, busy children interacting with one another and their teachers and enjoying our rich curriculum.
If you would like to explore the possibility of your child coming to Heritage, please arrange a visit or attend our next Open Morning.
We look forward to meeting you.
