Year 7 Nature Walks
Throughout the second half of the year, Year 7 enjoyed a series of nature walks with Mrs Burden, observing seasonal changes and learning more about native plants. In early spring, they explored leaf shapes—spotting the heart-shaped leaves of celandine, the spear-like leaves of young Lords and Ladies, and the broad leaves of the butterbur, once used to wrap freshly churned butter. By June, in warm sunshine, they turned their attention to umbellifers, identifying wild carrot, elder, hogweed, cow parsley, and even hemlock, before ending the walk with a paddle in the river and a cream tea.
